The UpStream system was put into commission late this summer, nevertheless at ambient conditions of 29°C and a relative humidity of 25% the inlet air was cooled down to 17°C and 93% relative humidity. This results in a drop of 12°C in the inlet air temperature by the adiabatic cooling effect of the system. The measured power gain on the generator was a staggering 12%! Check the graph for power GAIN (blue arrow) and heat rate DECREASE (red arrow).
With the design point of the UpStream system being defined at 30°C and 20% humidity, the power gain will be even more than the measured 12% this summer.
With the UpStream system the following guarantee statements can be committed for 100%:
1) Inlet air temperature drop resp. power gain of the turbine.
2) Completely dry air intake with absolutely no liquid droplets entering the compressor
