The continued rapid economic growth and increase in living standards in developing nations with large populations, like China and India, is dependent on a rapid and large expansion of energy production capacity.
To meet this demand, 50 to 100 gigawatts of additional generation capacity needs to be added each year.
This new capacity can be provided by new installations or by upgrading existing plants.
