Droplet
Why inlet air cooling? Combustion turbines are mass flow engines. The output of the turbines is therefore dependent on the properties of the air flowing through the engines.
Droplet Analysis

Droplet analysis is important as the evaporation distance and possible erosion are directly depended on the droplet size.

It has been demonstrated that for 20 micron droplets and smaller, the viscous forces will dominate and the droplets will follow the airstream.

The evaporation rate is a function of the surface area. A 20 micron droplet has the same volume as 8 droplets of 10 micron but only half the surface area.
Inertia and air viscosity are the two forces which govern the velocity vector of a fog droplet.

AxEnergy’s new patented swirl pressure nozzle provides a water droplet spectrum with a characteristic diameter in the range of 20 microns, measured with a Malvern Laser Diffraction System on the Dv 0.9 scale. It has been demonstrated that for 20 micron droplets and smaller, the viscous forces will dominate and the droplets will follow the airstream.
